Poems, Poems on the RangeWell, it's been quite a long time since my last Poetry Journal - it's high time we did another one, don't you think? Off we go~Poems, Poems on the Range by Acaciathorn
THE END OF INNOCENCE
As a child I laid and stared
At the ceiling's texture late at night
And marveled at the pageant there
When seen in imagination's light.
Obelisks from an alien world
Framed cityscapes devoid of life
Where grinning masks of feral girls
Peered with eyes bereft of sight.
Fantasies of magical powers
And who I might aspire to be
Sufficed to while away the hours
In the thrall of possibility.
But now that I am fully grown
There's a smaller space in which I dwell,
Where the limit of my reach is known
And all delusions have been dispelled.
In what I am I'm closed up tight;
I look out from this cage despairing;
I gaze above my head at night
And only see what needs repairing.
